When chefs need to choose a professional attire to put on, most would choose the traditional cooking gear. Double-breasted jacket, checkered pants, hat and a coat - these make up the traditional cooking attire for chefs. Yet, apparel for chefs continues to evolve and become glamorous in the passing of time giving chefs an additional set of options to choose from. This transitional phase in chef clothing does not end yet. Fashion designers and clothing businesses continue to promote transition in the style and design for chef apparel.

Chef Apparel: Salient Facts

There are a number of purpose why a chef should wear a chef apparel. With the many designs that are born, still designers of chef apparel make sure that the real purpose of having such is not deviated with the many designs. Every part of the apparel has a role.

One part is the double breasted jacket that usually has a white color. This part is not to attract a neat appearance. The jacket is usually made of a thicker fabric, thus serving as a protection from any heat that a chef will encounter while preparing food in the kitchen. The buttons in the jacket are also designed to stand even exposed to heat. Another important part of a chef's uniform is the coat. It is very necessary that the chef coats are worn, not so much with other accessories. Having the look of a professional is very important, and this is what a chef's coat is intended to do. Aside from being professional, the coat also gives comfort to the one wearing.

The last part that we will be going to talk about is the chef's hat. Before, these chef hats serves as a status symbol among the chefs. But hats also play the role of being a protection of the hair to fall but still can have the coolness and comfort even when worn.
